About Us

Powder Coating

First, your wheels are removed from your vehicle. Then, we remove the tyres, so we have only the alloy wheel.

Next, we put the wheels in our acid tank. This strips all the old paint, lacquer or dirt from your alloys. They stay in here until they’re ready for the next stage…

To prep, we rinse off all the acid from the wheels, we then remove any traces of corrosion, kerb rash or minor scuffs. Before anything else, we quality check to ensure they’re ready to go in the oven and completely gas out. This ensures that during the curing process, there will be no holes in the powder coating.

Then, we powder-coat them in your chosen colour. If the product is a gloss finish, we provide a final clear lacquer protective coat. This gives that ultra-shine finish (unless matt is your desired finish.

Finally, once the alloys have cooled down, we refit and balance the tyres, and fit them back into your vehicle. We do all this with the utmost care and torque the wheels up to the correct setting.

NOT JUST WHEELS

We don’t just do alloy wheel refurbishment, we can also powder coat other items as well, like… Bike frames, Callipers, Radiators, Gates and much more

Our advanced high-tech system means that we can powder coat a large range of things. This means that Platinum Wheels has you covered for all your powder coating needs.

WANT A QUOTE FOR POWDER COATING?

We understand that before you make any decisions, you want to know how much powder coating will cost. We don’t have a public price list for powder-coating other items, as every item will be different. Give us a call or speak to our great sales team regarding the items that you want powder coating and we can work you out a personalised price for what you need. We have a range of colours in gloss, matte and satin powder-coated finishes. We can do any gradient of these too. Feel free to come down and see us in Inveralmond Industrial Estate to have a chat with our service team.

Alloy Wheel Refurbishment

There are many reasons why our customers choose to get their alloy wheels refurbished or repaired at Platinum Wheels. For some it is simply because it affects the appearance of their car. Whether it is from scraping the kerb when parking or noticeable corrosion, after all, who doesn’t want their car to look good? For other customers it’s to ensure they receive the best price when they trade in or sell their car privately, as damaged alloys to a potential buyer may signal a less than careful owner and raise concern about other issues the car may have.
It’s also not just about aesthetics, as repairing corrosion to the inside of your alloy wheels can stop air loss and potential damage to tyres. So really, repairing or refurbishing is a must for any owner of a car with alloy wheels.
